Who are we? We are a small family operated business from Vancouver BC, specializing in only Baja, Mexico. We do not have a large office with numerous office staff, or expensive 48 page color litho catalogs to mail out. Therefore, our overhead is low - resulting in lower costs to you. 2011 is our 8th successful year in business. Many enthusiastic references are available.
Up to 15 guest RV rigs travel together in convoy from San Diego, being forwarned of road conditions ahead and chatting by CB radio. Detailed trip logs outline each day's travel. The Wagon master will stop the group frequently for rest and exploring points of interest. You enjoy the safety and security of staying, eating and fueling at preplanned destinations known to be of good quality, honest and trouble free.
Some tour caravans whisk you to Cabo San Lucas in 5 days and leave you on your own. Others insist you wear their hats, fine you for no ID badge on, and hit the road at 7:30AM precisely every morning.
There is a reasonable compromise, and that's us!
Although a certain level of discipline and coordination must be maintained, a good portion of our routine will be run by popular vote. We have daily meetings around Happy Hour to offer you choices for the next day's activities. If nobody wants a side trip we've planned, we can do something else, or even nothing (this IS a vacation after all). No daybreak departures - earlybirds have plenty of time for that morning walk or leisurely breakfast. We generally only drive 2 to 5 hours a day and arrive at our destinations early, so you can easily take off on your own & pull into camp later. No reason you can't even leave for a couple of days to a destination of special interest to you.
In January, 12 of the 29 days involve NO travelling!!
In February, 18 of the 36 days involve NO travelling!! |
BAJA and BACK's tour prices are lower than most because you pay your own RV park fees, vehicle costs and living expenses, allowing you the freedom to pick and choose which activities, services and dining options you want! (As opposed to feeling obligated to attend prepaid, fixed menu dinners, or bussing to all-day handicraft tours)
Options, options, options - that's what makes us special!!
| Did you know that you can stay a MONTH in Mexico travelling with us for less than the cost of only one week in an all-inclusive fly-in resort?? |
We provide roadside assistance to help with minor mechanical problems, and in event of a major breakdown, render aid and ensure the rig gets to a repair facility. Trips are usually accompanied by a "Tailgunner".
To communicate with home, most days we are near phones and internet. Incoming messages left at our toll-free message centre and emails are retrieved every 2 days.
Selected tours will have SATELLITE INTERNET & EMAIL SERVICE available for WiFi enabled guests throughout the trip! Another first in the industry for Baja and Back!.
We mail you a detailed pre-departure package 90 days in advance, so you can get an early start on your vacation planning.
Some of the highlights and optional activities we will encourage you to participate in to make your trip more exciting and memorable are:
Whale watching During Jan. and Feb., a 4 hour small-boat trip to a shallow lagoon leads to close encounters of the most heart warming kind with Grey whales in their wintering grounds. Here, up to 2000 whales come to mate, have babies and "snowbird" (just like us). Curious as cats, they often come right up to the boat to be petted & chances are reasonable you may actually touch and caress them in their natural environment. You will meet dozens of whales!
Watch a Youtube video of an encounter with a BABY grey whale.
This is probably the BEST whale watch opportunity in the world!
Camping on the most impressive little white sand beach in North America - 10 feet from the water & ocean view in both directions!
Glass-bottom boat tour to "El Arco" - Cabo San Lucas. You've come 1000 miles - might as well do the last mile to the spectacular natural arch that is the very end of Baja. See tropical fish thru the glass bottom & optional snorkeling off the boat.
Exploring a surrealistic natural garden of the world's largest majestic cacti & enormous boulder formations in the desert.
Some of the finest fishing opportunities in the world - casting or fly-fishing from shore, your cartopper, or professional deep sea charters. The East Cape, in particular, is called "The Best Fish Trap in the World!"
EVERY sportfishing charter we have ever sent out has caught at least one Marlin!
ATV "Arroyo" ride We go several miles up a flat riverbed into the rugged hills of East Cape, winding our way thru the sand and shallow water to a small waterfall, and swimming & lunch at a desert oasis pool. Easy for those who have never ATV'd before.
Kayak, boat or sail the premier protected cruising grounds of the Sea of Cortez.
- Birding - being on the Pacific flyway, Baja provides many oportunities for marshland & desert birdwatching and adding to your lifetime list!
Explore beautiful 250 year old Spanish missions and walk the paths once trod by Cortez, Magellan and Sir Francis Drake.
Bargain for original handicrafts and artworks from the people who actually made them.
Sunset Margarita cruise - 2 1/2 hour cruise on the 170 foot "Caboray", largest & best harbor tour ship in Cabo. Includes all you can drink bar, enormous food trays, a professional Tango floor show and magnificant views. Bring the camera!
Snorkeling on Mexico's only live coral reef with so many fish it'll take your breath away!
Marine Preserve boat trip - Espiritu Santo Island. A 5 hour trip thru tropical turquoise waters right around the entire island includes white sand beaches, magnificent cliff formations, sea caves, swimming side-by-side with Sea Lions and their pups at their open-water colony, as well as picnic lunch on a dazzling white beach. What a day!
Horseback riding along the surf or through the mountains.
ATV beach tour - Cabo San Lucas. A four wheeler ride along the beautiful Pacific beaches that most visitors don't even see to the old lighthouse, turtle nests and sand dunes. Race miles along the windswept beach!
Hiking the open desert for as far as you can see. (which is a long, long way!)
Cave paintings tour Breathtaking 5 hour van trip into the San Francisco de la Sierra mountains to view 700 year old native paintings. Visit a town where, excepting for cars, they happily live as folks did 100 years ago. Just the drive is worth the price!
Visit schools and clinics to donate clothing & supplies for those less fortunate.
Swim with 40 foot whalesharks! Watch Youtube video of an encounter with a BABY whaleshark.
Walk & swim a multitude of beautiful subtropical sandy beaches and turquoise bays to choose from. (We offer you more beaches to visit and stay on than ANY other Baja tour operator!)
Like seafood? We'll buy fresh fish off the boats & prawns as big as chicken drumsticks for beach BBQs! Yumm.
You will have the opportunity to make at least 30 new friends from all over North America.
Not to mention: golfing, bird watching, windsurfing, kiteboarding, Tequila tasting, swimming with dolphins, zip-lining, racing America's Cup yachts, desert Unimog safaris, off-road racing, suntanning, relaxing, shopping, shopping, shopping, and on and on ....
... and that's only PART of what we're going to do on your trip to Baja!
So, let's go ...
